Moultrie Design Studio
During my time at Auburn University I participated in a company sponsored studio for PRADCO’s hunting brand, Moultrie Feeders LLC. We were tasked with redesigning their small, tree mounted feeder, which is consistently a top selling product in the industry. In 2021 Moultrie launched the Feed Station II, which is based off my design and makes use of my dual feed-port concept.
Initial Concepts
The images below are from the first phase of the Deer Feeder Design Project. Each member of the team was tasked with developing 9 unique concepts for a new version of the existing feeder. I focused on adding new features and functionality to increase both the ease of installation and ease of filling, improve the attachment to the tree (added stability), and increase deer traffic to and from the feeder.
Prototyping
After the PRADCO engineering and marketing representatives reviewed all of my concepts, they decided that Concept 6 was the most promising due to its unique stability increasing geometry and added feed port. I was then tasked with refining my design and making a working prototype.

Final Presentation
The end goal of this sponsored studio was for Moultrie to select one or more student designs for further prototyping and testing. Due to the pandemic, this process was delayed and I wasn’t sure what had become of it, but in early 2021 Moultrie released it’s new feeder, the Feed Station II. To my surprise, it turned out that my design was chosen for further development and I am incredibly proud to say that many of the ideas in my final concept were used in making Moultrie’s new product.
